Intro to Mahjongg

Learn the Fundamentals

In this beginner-friendly series, you’ll learn the tiles, basic rules, and how to read the American Mahjongg card step-by-step. This class also includes a complimentary Open Play session so you can reinforce what you’ve learned in a supportive, guided environment.

Small group: 4 students per teacher.

Mahjongg 2.0

Build Confidence Through Practice

Perfect after Intro to Mahjongg, this class gives you lots of guided play so you can practice calling, picking, and discarding with support. We’ll review common situations, answer your questions as you play, and help you feel more confident sitting down at any American Mahjongg table.

Strategy & Skill Building

Take Your Game to the Next Level

This class focuses on the thinking side of American Mahjongg. We’ll slow down the Charleston, talk through what to keep and what to pass, and practice how to choose and commit to a strong hand. You’ll learn how to read the card more strategically, adjust as the wall changes, and make smarter decisions throughout the game.

Mahjongg Teacher

Julie Rami is a passionate Mahjongg educator dedicated to making this classic game accessible to everyone. For more than 35 years, she has been helping people learn and grow as an educator. As a lifelong teacher with a Master's degree in Curriculum and Instruction, she understands that every student learns differently. That's why she has designed these classes to meet the needs of all learners, making the game approachable and enjoyable.

In addition to her extensive teaching background, Julie has completed a Rules Trek and earned a certificate demonstrating her expert knowledge of National Mah Jongg League rules. This specialized training allows her to provide accurate, up-to-date instruction. Every class is crafted to provide a learning experience that is welcoming, professional, and fun for every new player.
